Preview: RCB vs CSK (IPL 2010 – Match 18)

What

The charged up Royal Challengers Bangalore will go head to head against the Chennai Super Kings

When

March 23, 2010, 8pm

Where

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Having already been witness to two lip-smacking encounters, it would be worth finding out whether the Royal Challengers can continue their fine home-form which blossomed for them in the match against KXIP.

The Protagonists

Jacques Kallis is enjoying a cracker of a tournament, unbeaten in the last four innings he has played, and is also the man who holds the Orange Cap currently. This team has the perfect mix of youth and experience. Pragmatism and risk-taking are traits rarely seen with each other, but the Royal Challengers Bangalore, with youngsters like Kohli, Uthappa and Pandey, playing alongside veterans like Kumble, Kallis and Boucher, bring the best out of each other.

But writing off the Chennai Super Kings will be at the opposition’s risk. No player in this team can be singled out as a star performer, for everyone contributes and plays their part. They would be disappointed and sore after their narrow loss against the Kings XI Punjab, and would be looking to hit back at their opposition and cement a place in the top four of the table. Raina will lead the men from Chennai once more, with players like Hayden, Kemp, Morkel and Muralidaran by his side, ready to give their all for this team.

What next?

A win would keep the Royal Challengers Bangalore on the top of the table and immensely boost their confidence for the matches to come. Ross Taylor may still be some time away from joining the team, but the Royal Challengers are managing brilliantly without him. The talismanic Dhoni would be itching to get back to action, but he will be sitting out this encounter as well. Chennai are currently placed fourth on the table and need this win to boost their chances of a semi-final qualification.
