Preview: DD vs CSK (IPL 2010 - Game 11)

What

The second home game for Delhi Daredevils, it provides them with a chance to make it three wins in a row. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, are coming off a wonderful victory against KKR and would want to continue their winning habit.

When

Friday, March 19. The second week of IPL 2010 gets underway and the battles keep getting closer and interesting. Teams have now started to understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses and are continuously sizing up each other. With ups and downs in the points table in a matter of one or two games, each victory or loss will become crucial starting now.

Where

Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Delhi Daredevils will be having a strong home crowd supporting them and would like their wins tally to go to three so they can grab the top spot in the points table.

The weather could be a deciding factor as the heat will take its toll on the players. It will be a good test for the international players in both sides.

The Protagonists

Dinesh Karthik, stand-in captain for Delhi Daredevils, will look for some support from his teammates and fans as he takes on the field as captain for the first time. Already on the back foot without opener Gautam Gambhir, Delhi will have their work cut-out when they take on a resurgent Chennai Super Kings.

Suresh Raina will be in the limelight as he takes over the mantle of captaincy as MS Dhoni is out for ten days with an injury. He would want to start off from where Dhoni left and make a good beginning as captain.

What next?

Both stand-in captains would like to do justice to the faith shown by the team management in - it would be interesting to see how they handle the pressure and their teams. Delhi has lost its numero uno position to Mumbai Indians and now is standing at number four. A win is all they need to get right back to the top of the points table. Chennai is placed just below Delhi and would like to come a little higher than its current position. With captain and ‘keeper Dhoni away, the youngsters have an opportunity to raise their hand and be counted.
