The Deccan Chargers, having broken their home jinx in India, would be playing another match at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. This time as well the stadium looks set to be the venue for a run-fest.
The Protagonists
The Deccan Chargers, having won their last two matches, would be looking to continue their winning rhythm and will try to make it three in a row. Gibbs, Symonds and Gilchrist are men whose mere mention sends shudders down any bowler’s spine. With RP Singh, Vaas, and the yet to be played Kemar Roach, the defending champions seem invincible on paper.
The Delhi Daredevils are no coy customers themselves. Two losses for them would mean nothing compared to the morale-boosting return of their captain Gautam Gambhir from a hamstring injury. Warner, Sehwag and Dilshan are capable of decimating any bowling attack. Aussie southpaw Dirk Nannes looks in destructive touch and Faraveez Maharoof is still in the hunt for the Purple Cap.
What next?
One team has won two matches in a row, and the other has lost two matches in a row, so both need the win for altogether different reasons. A win would keep the Deccan Chargers in the top four of the table, and a win for the Daredevils would lift them from the bottom four.
