He explained that he would be missing the match due to injury and mentioned, “My condition will be re-assessed in Chennai on Sunday and only then can I take a call on my return.”

“Talking about the IPL and the RCB, the fact that I come from Bangalore and this being a Bangalore team, it is obvious where my loyalty lies. I will be watching almost all the home matches,” said Deepika Padukone in an interview to the Hindustan Times. On Anil Kumble, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, she said, “I have watched Anil Kumble over the years and he has not only done wonders for India, he is the perfect leader.”

“Champions Deccan Chargers are not being able to recapture their form of last year. They lost the opening game of this year's IPL when, at one stage, it looked they would coast to a win. And, perhaps, that loss has dented their confidence,” wrote Sunil Gavaskar, in Hindustan Times. Commenting upon the Deccan Chargers formidable batting line-up he wrote, “Unfortunately, they all have been trying to hit the ball a little too hard and missing out on the timing factor.” He added, “The Kings XI Punjab will have to show that the loss to Royal Challengers despite getting 200-plus runs is not bothering them. They need Yuvraj to fire. It's a must-win match for both teams”

“There is nothing like being too old to play cricket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In IPL, one can see them clearly enjoying their extended life span in the game. The net result being they play excellent cricket, broadening the IPL fan base by thousands each day.”

“Like writers of classical prose getting onto twitter, Sachin Tendulkar and Jacques Kallis are lighting up this year’s IPL,” Harsha Bhogle wrote in the Indian Express. “The first week has also shown that you cannot really determine how many runs can be scored in the last few overs. Like technology opened our eyes to new speeds and storage capacities I think batsmen are also discovering that things are possible which they hadn’t been aware of,” he added.
