India’s gladiators for ICC World T20 named

Mumbai: The BCCI today named the 15-member Indian squad for the ICC World T20 tournament to be held in West Indies.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s R Vinay Kumar has found a place in the team following his great form in the Indian Premier League. Vinay Kumar is currently the third highest wicket-taker in the league with eight wickets and a best of four for 40 against Mumbai Indians, including the coveted wicket of Sachin Tendulkar.

The 26-year-old is the only member of the team without any senior international experience.

Also included is Yusuf Pathan, whose mighty hitting for Rajasthan Royals is setting the IPL on fire. Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla of Kings XI Punjab also gets a look-in. The 21-year-old last played for India in 2008 and has still to play in a T20 international.

Vinay Kumar’s RCB teammate Praveen Kumar also has found a place in the 15-member squad. Delhi Daredevils medium-pacer Ashish Nehra, who has just recovered from an injury, has also been included in the team.
