Snappy Report: DC vs CSK

Match: Deccan Chargers vs Chennai Super Kings

When: April 10, 2010, 4pm

Where: Vidarbha Cricket Association, Nagpur

Who won: Deccan Chargers

How: By 6 wickets

Man-of-the-Match: Ryan Harris for a three-for and an economic spell

MVP of the match: Suresh Raina for his impact on the match

What’d he do?: Scoring 52 runs in the match, Suresh Raina held the record for the most runs in IPL (1177) for a brief period before Gilchrist (1182) overhauled it. He picked up a wicket and also took a catch to give his side a sniff of a win.

Turning point: Getting out in the 18th over meant doom for Raina and his side as they could not cope with the loss and ended with a paltry 138 -8.

Longest hit: One short of 100, a 99m hit by T Suman broke the shackles for the DC batsmen.

Dot-ball hero: R Ashwin bowled as many as 18 dots in the Powerplay!

Innovative shot of the match: Classical bat S. Badrinath tried to play the ‘dilscoop’. Instead, he top-edged it and got the desired result – a four!

Captain vs. Captain: MS Dhoni must be hard put to find reasons for his team’s batting performance! They made the pitch look like the culprit but DC batsmen proved the pitch had no demons in it. Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist, though, barely had any supporters at the match today, but it was his players that supported him. Youngsters Harmeet Singh and T Suman came good and helped register another win.

Moment of the match: Seeing a fast bowler dive is a rare sight. Sudeep Tyagi not only dived but picked up an excellent catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma.

Interesting fact of the match: The top three run-scorers in IPL, Suresh Raina, Adam Gilchrist and Matthew Hayden, were all playing in the same game. Also, R Ashwin’s spell of 4-0-13-2 was one of the most economical spells of IPL 2010.
