Warne’s fortress remains secure

Match: Rajasthan Royals vs Chennai Super Kings

When: March 28, 2010, 4 pm

Where: Sardar Patel Stadium, Ahmedabad

Who won: Chennai Super Kings

How: By 17 runs

Man-of-the-Match: Naman Ojha

MVP of the match: Naman Ojha

What’d he do?: Rajasthan Royals opener Naman Ojha has been threatening to unleash his batting power in the tournament. And today was the D-day where he showcased his talent with a match-winning 80.

Turning point: The clash between RR and CSK ended up being decided by just that - a clash! Looking for a second run, MS Dhoni’s stride was broken after team-mate S Badrinath collided with his captain to leave Dhoni batless and without a hope of reaching the crease.

Longest hit: Welcome to the party, Albie! CSK’s Albie Morkel gave the Super Kings faithfuls something to cheer about. The South African absolutely massacred a Shane Warne full toss out of the ground to launch some fresh zest into their run chase.

Innovative stroke: In times of constant novelties, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala made simplicity his weapon of choice. Beautifully slashing the ball past point off Albie Morkel.

Dot-ball hero: Thilan Thushara was the pick of the Super Kings bowlers. With 12 dots, the Sri Lankan did well to restrict the Royals batsmen.

Captain vs Captain: Warnie once again came out on top in this enticing encounter. The Royals skipper marshalled his troupes with confidence and eked out a confidence boosting win. MS Dhoni could count himself unlucky for getting out when set - overall a disappointing outing for the men from the South.

Off-beat moment: Look before you leap - Shane Warne ignored this adage. The Aussie turned blind for what turned out to be a ridiculous attempt for a second run. Warne, who almost got timed out, didn’t face a ball and worse yet, didn’t even get a chance to put his gloves on.

Moment of the Match: Trust Yusuf Pathan to come up with a moment of magic. He failed with the bat but succeeded in giving the Royals a massive boost by hanging on to a stunning reflex return catch to dismiss Matthew Hayden.
