Preview: DD vs KKR (IPL 2010, Match 26)

What

The Delhi Daredevils look set to host another interesting encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders

When

Monday, 29 March 2010, 8 pm. Both these teams would use this victory as a ladder to re-enter the top half of the table and re-establish their chances for a semi-final appearance.

Where

Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. The time when it was abandoned due to poor playing conditions is long gone and it is now a beautiful pitch to play on. A mine of runs, if anyone gets going on this pitch, he’ll be unstoppable.

The Protagonists

Both these teams just put to bed a three match losing streak and are currently fifth and sixth on the table. England’s talismanic Paul Collingwood has returned to the Delhi side and is raring to get a chance to prove his mettle. David Warner, after his Kamikaze innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore, would want to stay longer this time and do more damage. Mishra, Jadhav and McDonald chipped in some fine performances in their last match and would be eyeing an encore in this game.

The Kolkata Knight Riders are still waiting for the return of Brendon McCullum, but they wouldn’t mind a victory without him. Manoj Tiwary showed his panache in the last match, and Dada rolled back the years with a half century. With their batting and bowling departments falling into place, they would be looking to build on their previous win in their encounter against the Daredevils.

What next?

This match is all about reaching the Top Four at the expense of the other. A win for either of these teams would put them back in the top half of the table while a loss would pin them to the bottom half. Delhi would be looking to use the home support to their advantage. The Knight Riders would be looking for another day where they can get all the departments of their game to synchronise and deliver results.
