Snappy Report: RCB vs DD

Match: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils

When: March 25, 2010, 4pm

Where: M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru

Who won: Delhi Daredevils

How: By 17 runs

Man-of-the-Match: Kedar Jadhav

MVP of the match: Amit Mishra

What’d he do? The leggie was in sublime form, picking up the crucial wickets of Jacques Kallis and Robin Uthappa. A game-changer for the Daredevils in the truest sense.

Turning point: Greed was Eoin Morgan’s downfall - going for the second run the Irishman was well short of his crease when Dinesh Karthik whipped off the bails. That extra run was simply not worth it.

Longest hit: David Warner got his point across right from the outset, smashing Dale Steyn’s 143 kmph delivery for a huge six over midwicket.

Innovative stroke: Who needs to get set? First-ball reverse sweep - Robin Uthappa you beauty! The RCB batsman looked in sublime touch playing his customary shot to get off the mark.

Dot-ball hero: Umesh Yadav bowled with immense consistency on his way to notching 11 dots to the RCB batsmen from his allotment of 4 overs.

Captain vs Captain: Dinesh Karthik won the battle of the captains courtesy of some shrewd captaincy and efficient wicket-keeping. The newbie skipper did well to record his first win in the tournament. Kumble, on the other hand, couldn’t influence the game as much as he would have liked and it showed as RCB couldn’t handle the pressure.

Off-beat moment: Manish Pandey’s ludicrous running between the wickets almost gifted the Daredevils a free wicket. The RCB youngster was rudely awaken from his bizarre daze, after he used his foot instead of his bat to get in the crease. It was too close to call and the third-umpire went in favour of the batsman. What a reprieve for Pandey.

Moment of the day: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s AB de Villiers. The South African set the Chinnaswamy Stadium alight when he leapt to his right at long-on, plucking the ball out of the air to dismiss Praveen Kumar. It had six written all over it, but someone obviously forgot to inform de Villiers.
