Gambhir, Nehra attend training session with squad

Bengaluru: Things are looking up for the Delhi Daredevils finally.

Days after skipper Gautam Gambhir and lead bowler Ashish Nehra returned from a rehab trip to Colombo, more good news was to follow.

Both Gambhir and Nehra arrived in Bengaluru and trained with the squad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. While Nehra ran 10 laps of the ground, Gambhir went for a fitness test at the indoor nets at the National Cricket Academy.

This is good news for the Daredevils who have been waiting for their two main players to be back in action.

Stand-in skipper Dinesh Karthik confirmed that Gambhir looks a possible starter for the Thursday afternoon clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

“Their fitness is still being checked. Ashish Nehra may not play tomorrow, but there is a chance that Gauti [Gautam Gambhir] can play,'' said Karthik on the eve of the match.

But Daredevils coach Greg Shipperd was a bit more cautious. “We will have a look at Gautam tomorrow, but we won't be rushing him into playing if he is not absolutely hundred percent [fit],'' Shipperd told iplt20.com.

Gambhir and Nehra had travelled to Colombo for treatment at the hands of a reputed Sri Lankan Ayurvedic physician. The treatment was administered at the request of Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Gambhir suffered a hamstring injury during the Daredevils' first home game against Mumbai Indians, while Nehra has been suffering from a rib injury he picked up during training.
